ICT @ BENFIELD

Benfield School is committed to the use of ICT across the curriculum, from the standpoints of both Teaching and Learning. To this end the ICT facilities at the school are constantly being kept up-to-date and re-evaluated.

There are now 5 full-time ICT teachers, each of them with their own ICT teaching suite. The ICT classrooms contain approximately 30 machines each, as well as a seperate computer for the teacher which is connected to a Smartboard and Projector.

The most recent addition to the ICT facilitites at Benfield school has been the MultiMedia room. Outfitted with brand new computing equipment (each workstation having a 2.8GHz processor, 512Mb of RAM, a 15" LCD monitor, and full multimedia facilities including CD Writing & DVD drives and headphones), this room also contains a lecture facility consisting of a SmartBoard/Projector combination with an audience area.

The room is now the flagship of Benfield's ICT facilities, with the ICT Subject Leader using it as her teaching classroom, as well as her base of operations. This large classroom facility is now at the centre of the school's day-to-day operation, with not only regular lessons taking place there, but also presentations, meetings, and conferences.

There are also seven other ICT suites which are used for a variety of subjects including Business Studies, Maths, PE, Geography, Student Support, and Heath & Social Care. As well as these facilities there are also eight computers available to all students in the Open Learning Centre, and a video editing suite.

Each teaching room in the school is also equipped with a computer which is connected to a Smart Board and Projector.

In addition to the teaching staff there is a full-time on-site team of four technicians who are responsible for maintaining the ICT equipment and the overall running of the school network.
